Moderator: Milinda Balthrop

Milinda Balthrop is the associate director of the Communities of Practice (CoP) at the F. David Fowler Career Center (FDFCC) and has served in the role of adjunct lecturer at the George Washington University School of Business (GWSB). Milinda comes to GWSB as a former executive and partner in IBM’s Global Business Services (GBS) where she served as a trusted advisor to federal C-suite clients regarding services and technologies to achieve mission fulfillment. In her early career as a PricewaterhouseCoopers consultant, Milinda assisted clients with strategic communications, system implementations, business process improvement, and organizational transformations. Milinda oversees the design and delivery of the Communities of Practice, a rigorous yearlong experiential learning program. The CoP equips students with the tools, preparation and network connections needed for industry success by providing skills training, immersive experiences and mentoring. Milinda also serves as the CoP Engagement Manager for student teams across a variety of for profit, government, and nonprofit pro bono projects. Milinda received a B.A from the George Washington University, M.B.A from Georgetown University, and M.A. with a concentration in the business of media from Johns Hopkins University.


 

Alexis Mittereder

Health consultant and public health professional with seven years of experience providing expert support to federal clients in the Department of Defense Personnel and Readiness sector and Defense Health Agency. Alexis currently leads research and strategic projects, and annual and ad-hoc reports to Congress for the Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office. Prior to that, Alexis supported in-depth analysis of research on traumatic brain injury, combat and operational stress control, substance-use disorder, sexual assault, sexual harassment and other psychological health topics. Alexis has a Master's degree in Public Health from George Washington University with disciplinary expertise in health policy and management.


 

Megan Krishnamurthy

Megan is currently an MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management where she is focusing her studies on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Megan is also Co-Founder & COO at Something Brazen, a startup that is building a data-driven investment platform to connect female founders and angel investors. Megan’s internship experiences during graduate school include a research internship at Women of the World Endowment (WoWE) as well as a consulting internship with Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Megan will be returning full-time to BCG in their New York office in January 2023. Prior to business school, Megan worked at JPMorgan Chase in New York City for 5 years, first in hedge fund sales and later in corporate responsibility. During this time, Megan attained her Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) certification in addition to her Series 7 and Series 63 licenses. Megan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The George Washington University and lives in Cambridge, MA with her husband and cat.




 

Adriana (Dri) Mariela Garay

Ms. Adriana Garay is an IT industry professional with 20+ years of experience. Her corporate career includes many positions within IBM Argentina, Brazil and US. Currently within IBM US, she is a Quote to cash transformation Executive Director. She is specialized in business agility and among her career accomplishments, there are many success stories that led to being recognized internally and externally. Ms. Garay has a vast experience in supporting multiple business units with IBM in multiple shared services positions. Ms. Garay earned a bachelor’s degree at Universidad de Belgrano, Argentina. She is married and mother of 2. In her free time, she likes to enjoy family, play piano, travel and recently developed a special interest in building puzzles.


 

Shayla Stewart

Shayla Stewart currently is a Senior Manager at Visa in their Consulting and Analytics division based in Washington DC after receiving her MBA from Duke University Fuqua School of Business. Prior she worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers supporting federal clients with financial management, property management and cybersecurity, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board in funding and the Advisory Board Company in strategy and operations. She holds a duel degree in finance and business economics/public policy from George Washington University, is a founder of the United Women in Business Foundation (UWIB) and was a previous GWWIB board member.
