annual capstone event

About

Each spring we host our annual capstone event, the GWWIB Spring Conference, a professional gathering of women organized by students, for students. The Spring Conference started in 2010 to provide students with an opportunity to learn more about different careers and industries. The daylong conference begins with a distinguished keynote speaker and speaker series, then leads into a series of workshops and 12 industry focused panels in areas that range from fashion to finance.

This past year, our 10th Annual Spring Conference brought together over 250 attendees and more than 100 professionals across a variety of industries to network and encourage students to forge their own career paths. The 3 keynotes included Eshauna Smith (Chief Executive Officer of The Urban Alliance), Michelle McKelvey (Partner Manager at Facebook), and Annie Wang (Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Her Campus Media). The event also featured a speaker series with presentations from Dan Simons (Founder and Co-Owner of Founders Restaurant Group) in conversation with Suzanne Simon (Co- Founder of Chaia) and Katie Rosen Kitchens (Co-Founder of FabFitFun) in conversation with Alexandra Bonvouloir (US Operations and Merchandising director of Yves Solomon). The panels and workshops featured speakers from a diverse group of companies including NASA, Capital One, Lyft, Ogilvy, KPMG, L’Oreal, J.Jill, SCOUT Bags, Washington Wizards, Deloitte, Marriott International, IBM, Ernst & Young, Bloomberg, Tarte Cosmetics, and Western Union, among many more.

This year we will host our 11th Spring Conference on April 4th, 2020 in Funger and Duques Halls on GWU’s Campus in Washington, DC.
