GWWIB x POP! Thrift

As many of you know, GWWIB’s 14th annual Spring Conference is quickly approaching. On April 1st, attendees will gather to listen, learn, and network with business professionals in various industries. The day-;ong event allows students to delve into their career interests and it is important to look the part.

Last week, on Friday March 2nd, GWWIB and POP! Thrift collaborated in an effort to give Spring Conference attendees the chance to buy business casual and business professional attire. There will be racks of clothes available to purchase or get inspiration from. This pop-up was located in the Textile Museum, located adjacent to Corcoran Hall. The Spring Conference team also presented the opportunity to purchase tickets to the event.

Power of the Purse (POP), was started by four GW students to make second-hand clothing affordable and accessible to their peers. Their primary focus is sustainability by giving clothes a new life and owner. Since POP’s start in 2021, they have hosted 9 GW-based in-person pop-ups and announced 3 eCommerce drops on their website. POP has been quite successful, winning several grants totalling $26,000 from entrepreneurial competitions. They have been putting this to good use, as this past summer they formed a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC). This is only the beginning as they plan to expand their business to college campuses throughout the country.
